The ride
The Martin Garcia Island tour is a helicopter flight over Tigre and the Delta islands, with a landing on a nature reserve 60 km from Buenos Aires, at the mouth of the Uruguay River on the Rio de la Plata. Two 25-minute flights and a two-hour stay on the island, ideal for those who want a flyover with time to discover a retreat away from the city.
What does the route look like?
We take off from Helinorth Heliport. On the outbound flight we fly over the San Isidro area up to the cathedral, follow the Luján River to Parque de la Costa, cross the Delta islands and land on Martin Garcia Island.
Facing the Uruguayan coast, the island covers 168 hectares of nature reserve, home to hundreds of native species of birds, reptiles, rodents and amphibians, and a quiet village inhabited by a few families. Several trails cross it from end to end: among the trees are the ruins of a former military base; in the historic town centre, a theatre, a bakery and pastry factory, a chapel, the prison where former President Perón was exiled, small museums, the Prefecture lighthouse, two squares with outdoor play areas, an inn and a family restaurant. Two free hours to explore on foot, enjoy the surroundings or have lunch at the restaurant. Lunch is not included and is paid separately.
On the return flight we take a different route through the northern area, the Luján River, the Tigre Hotel and the coastline country clubs, before landing back at the heliport.
Your pilot, who is also a flight instructor, will be available to answer all your questions about the aircraft and the flight.
Prefer a flyover with no stop on the ground? The Helitour Tigre (18 minutes, Delta and northern area). Want to have lunch on a closer island? Lunch at the Delta offers the same two-hour stay on Bajos del Paraná, with a flight focused on Tigre and the Delta islands.
